All of this month’s photos of the girls were taken during our week on holiday in Spain. There’s just something about being away from day to day life that makes your children suddenly grow up before of your eyes. The girls were inseparable whilst on holiday and the age gap between them is seeming smaller and smaller. They seem to be playing more and more together although I’m still not sure that they know what game the other one is playing. Their personalities do clash quite a bit though as Lyra is much more eager to play quietly alone whilst…

A couple of weeks ago there was a bank holiday Monday, the last one of the year really. Matt had been back at work for two days after our holiday to Spain and after I’d done my day at work we found ourselves with two days off together and no plans. As much as we had loved our holiday we both found that we were craving some greenery, some woodland, and some cliché English countryside. And so we packed ourselves a little picnic, and by that I mean bought some bits in the nearest supermarket, and headed out in search…

37/52 I am really failing at being consistent with these portraits this year which is such a shame as I love looking back on them. That being said I’m glad I’m sharing this week’s as I really like both of them. We went to spend a few days with my parents on Portland last week and since my Mum wasn’t working we managed to fit in a couple of day trips. We had nothing planned but I find that’s when all the good stuff happens. We took a walk to a local community farm as Lyra loves anything to do…

A 2am alarm which wasn’t really needed as I was too excited to sleep. A long dark drive with two little girls who didn’t really wake much as we transferred them into the car. A 6am take off and a two hour flight in which I even got to read for more than 30 seconds! One very excited girl running into her Nanna’s arms once we arrived. Squeezing all of our luggage into two cars and one short drive later and we are there. Holiday starts here. What follows is a blissfully relaxed week in the sunshine. Spending time together…

August has flown by and I must admit that this little blog has been rather neglected. I don’t even have the excuse of it being the school holidays as both of my girls are too young for school anyway. We’ve been filling our days with adventures and making memories though and the unexpected break from blogging has been good for me. September always feels like a new beginning and I’m ready and energised to throw myself back into it. August ended up being a month of two halves. The rain that seemed to last forever at the beginning of the…

32/52 I haven’t shared a weekly portrait of my girls in weeks and look how much they have grown! Things have been a little manic around these parts which I plan to do a blog post on soon if only to get all of my thoughts and feelings out (no, I’m not pregnant!) but for now I’m just going to try and pick up from where I left off. My husband actually took the photo of Lyra this week, he was trying to get some pictures of me breastfeeding Athena as that chapter of motherhood is coming to an early…

For some reason I didn’t do one of these posts last month so things between the girls have changed quite a lot since May. Athena turned one and got more and more confident and suddenly the gap between them isn’t looking so big. Watching them whilst out and about remains my favourite thing to do in the world. Lyra rushes off as soon as she sees some wide open spaces but it usually clicks after a few seconds that her little sister can’t keep up so she comes running straight back to us, usually to tell Athena all about what…

28/52 Look at these little cuties! I love this time of year, it is just so colourful. Yesterday we headed to Somerset Lavender which is somewhere we visited for the first time last year when Athena was still a small baby. It was so nice to go back now that Athena is walking around and exploring with her big sister. Lyra was fascinated by the bees and spent most of the time that we were there watching them buzzing about. Athena on the other hand just wanted to walk and play with dirt. It looks like we definitely have another…
