Happy New Year! 2017 just flew by and I can’t believe that it’s already over. I have to admit that I was asleep before midnight last night but we were up bright and early to watch the sunrise. Getting up to watch the sunrise on New Year’s Day is a tradition that we started last year and since it went so well then we were excited to repeat it again this year.
The skies were absolutely stunning last time so we had high hopes for this morning. Unfortunately the weather was so much cloudier this year which meant that we didn’t get to see anything but it was still nice to be up and about earlier than we usually manage. It was also lovely to see Athena running around with her big sister and actually appearing in our family photo today as last year she was only six months old and in the Ergo on Matt’s chest.
Even though the view wasn’t as great as last year we will definitely be heading out to watch the sunrise again. If you can get good weather winter is the perfect time to do it as you don’t even need to get up really early (today’s sunrise was at 8.15) and I find it really sets me up for the day. In fact I’m not going to wait until next New Year to do it again and will drag everyone out again this winter when a clear morning is forecast.
Do you have any traditions to celebrate the New Year? Do you watch the sunrise on New Year’s Day? Or do you prefer to celebrate on New Year’s Eve? I’d love to know!
