Everyday Adventuring | Dyrham Park

In the excitement of Athena’s arrival I didn’t get the chance to post the photos from our most recent trip to Dyrham Park. We headed there for a walk and picnic the Sunday before Athena was born and since my contractions started the next morning I am going to credit the day with starting it all. I was already four days overdue at this point so I knew that I wouldn’t be able to manage to walk the whole park so instead we took a picnic and just walked to our special tree and back and it reminded me that sometimes the little adventures can result in the most fun.

I love looking at these photos, when we were out I had no idea that it would be our last day out as a family of three but it seems that I took lots of pictures of Lyra with each of us. It’s like I sensed that our little one was arriving soon and Lyra would no longer be an only child. It also seems so funny to look at photos of myself with that giant bump especially considering I’m sat writing this with a sleeping baby on my lap.Although these pictures were only taken recently they already seem like a lifetime ago.

We wanted to try and take one last photo of our family of three by our special tree but when we got there it was already occupied! Lyra was not impressed by all of the cows although to be fair I think it’s the closest she’s ever been to them and they must seem really huge from her point of view. After all of our walking we thought there was only one way to end the trip and that was with an ice cream. We thought that Lyra wouldn’t manage one of her own so we decided to share ours with her. That was a mistake! She definitely could have eaten a whole one and she was very reluctant to give the cone up when it was someone else’s turn so next time we’ll be getting her one of her own as I don’t really like to share ice cream either!

I could not have asked for a better end to this chapter of our life and I am now just looking forward to all of the adventures we will have as a family of four.

As he usually does on our days out Matt filmed a little video and it’s going to be one I love to watch back. It’s crazy to think that in this video we had no idea that our lives were about to change just 48 hours later!

Be sure to check out our YouTube channel for videos of our past weekend adventures and I would love it if you would give it a like or subscribe. Thanks
