The past couple of days have been wet. Luckily we had family visiting so we had a lovely weekend despite the rain but we did want to try and get out on Saturday for a little walk at least. After lunch we decided to head to the woods for a wander but, inevitably, Lyra fell asleep in the car on the way and as we were waiting for her to wake up the weather took a turn for the worse. It started hailing and then just tipping it down and so, before Lyra had even woken up, we had to call it a day and head home. Then, of course, as we were driving home the rain started to ease off some. Not stop but at least slow a little. And then we had a decision to make. It would have been so easy to continue our journey home, the weather was still pretty grim and Lyra was still asleep. But, well, I wanted us to at least try and get out. Lyra was in her puddle suit and wellies and I didn’t want her to be disappointed by waking up outside our house. So we made a quick decision to head to Bath City Farm.
The farm isn’t too far from our house and as we arrived Lyra woke up. She seemed pretty eager to get out of the car and go for a walk despite the rain so we just followed her lead. No one else was around (clearly we were the only crazy ones) and we didn’t stay too long but Lyra loved it. She waved and chatted to all of the animals, well the ones that weren’t hiding from the rain anyway. I just stood back and watched her whilst taking the odd photo and we just enjoyed being outside together. It may have only been a small adventure but I’m glad we did it. It put a smile on my daughter’s face and that’s all it’s really about isn’t it?
