Both this pregnancy and the last I had to have the Glucose Tolerance Test at around this point due to family history of diabetes and this time it was booked for yesterday. I really didn’t fancy the idea of looking after Lyra on my own when I hadn’t eaten for so long (I get so grumpy when I’m hungry) so Matt booked the day off work. This day was our first day off together since New Year’ Day so to say that I was looking forward to it would be a serious understatement. My GTT was due to finish at 10.30 so we had lots of plans for the rest of the day. I really should learn that plans don’t exactly well, go to plan, when you have small children. Lyra was ill all of last week, she pretty much cried or slept on me for days and although she’s feeling better she definitely still tires easily at the moment so heading out for long periods of time was a no no. Pair that with the fact that Matt has now caught whatever it was that Lyra had and the day looked doomed.
When we woke up in the morning though the sun was shining, Lyra was in a good mood, and Matt didn’t feel too bad so after we’d got my blood tests out of the way we decided to risk heading out for a little bit. We knew we had to take it easy so we drove to Lacock with the idea of walking around the Abbey and it’s grounds. Well, we never made it inside the Abbey but we did spend a really enjoyable couple of hours exploring the grounds. I don’t think I’m ever happier than when I’m outside adventuring with my little family, I always come away feeling refreshed and so in love with this life that I lead. Lyra was in her element running around in the sunshine, collecting sticks and examining flowers whilst Matt and I followed behind laughing at our daughter and daydreaming about the summer when baby number two joins us.
Before too long though it was time to leave. Matt was aching and exhausted and Lyra was starting to whinge and complain. We could have pushed on a little longer but I wanted to finish on a high so after walking back to the car we headed home for an afternoon of cuddling and Disney movies.
