I love Tuesdays. Tuesdays have become my Saturday and the only thing missing from them are my husband. I work Saturday to Monday and so Tuesdays mark the beginning of four days at home with Lyra. Usually she starts off a little grumpy with me as if she’s punishing me for leaving her the past three days but once she’s forgiven me we always have lots of fun. I don’t like to plan anything for a Tuesday, instead spending the day just following Lyra’s lead. Some weeks we’ll go into town or to the park and others we may stay in our pyjamas until lunchtime lounging around the house.
This past Tuesday we decided to just make some noise. I grabbed a couple of saucepans from the kitchen, handed Lyra a spoon and sat back to see what she did with it. Watching Lyra approach something new is one of my favourite things to do and making noise is one of hers so this was a win win for both of us. Lyra was thrilled with the wooden spoon but couldn’t grasp the concept of hitting it against the saucepan, instead choosing to wave it around like a mad woman. I ended up giving her a wooden block to bang instead and she loved that. Soon the house was filled with the musical delights of Lyra!
Such a simple activity perfectly sums up why I love Tuesdays. Tuesdays are full of extraordinary ordinary moments. Long live Tuesdays!
