|Matt and I on our wedding day|
11.11.11. At 11am. Matt and I were married. These past three years have been the best of my life and I count myself lucky every day to be married to my best friend. This year of marriage has brought our daughter Lyra into our family and my love for Matt has only grown. I could rabbit on all day about how amazing he is but lets just say I’m madly in love with him and leave it there.
Now, with the arrival of Lyra, our options for ways to celebrate were reduced from last year. Luckily we had family visiting last weekend so we left Lyra with her Grandma and Grandai and headed out for an early dinner. We haven’t left Lyra in months and she’s been really clingy so I was a little nervous but we left at Lyra’s dinner time so we knew she’d be distracted by food. We didn’t have much chance to get ready and as we left the house I felt pretty scruffy as I hadn’t had a chance to shower and redo my make up like I’d normally do for a date. I actually found baby food in my eyebrow halfway through dinner! It really didn’t matter though. Our life may have changed a lot in the past year but we’re still us and we still enjoy each others company. We ate so much food and then headed to another little place for drinks and dessert. Perfect! Lyra was an angel for her Grandparents and we were back for her bath time and bedtime routine which worked really well. I’m hoping to fit a few more dates into our life again now as I love getting a chance to hang out and chat with Matt.
Matt even managed to get the day off today to celebrate so we’ve been lazing around as a family and just enjoying being together. Some days may be tough at the moment and we may be running on minimal sleep but I am so, so grateful for this little life of mine. Three years of marriage, here’s to many more.
