I can’t believe 4 weeks have already passed with this little one in our lives. She’s so much more alert now and really looks at you instead of just over your shoulder. She does still spend a lot of time staring at the living room window which is covered by blinds though. That’s still kind of creepy. Lyra is no longer content to just lie on us, she wants interaction and attention and we are more than happy to give it to her. She’s also found her voice this week, making not only content little gurgles but also crying…

This week has still been about getting used to being home alone with Lyra. She grumbles a little more now but we’re still very lucky as she’s sleeping in long stretches over night. The week was a week of firsts for me though. I nursed Lyra in public for the first time, used public baby changing facilities and went out on my own with her for the first time. I thought having a baby would be all about their firsts but this week has proved otherwise! Lyra did have her first picnic, national trust visit and met some new people…

Gosh, I really do love him. I cannot sing this man’s praises enough. He is, quite simply, amazing. Watching him take on his new role as a father has been an absolute delight and I’m sure I’m falling more and more in love with him. As we settle in to our new family and get to know Lyra more we’re able to take a little time back to just be us. Conversations that aren’t solely about this new life we’ve created have started to sneak in, cuddles on the sofa has resumed and little adventures are back. I am so…

I’m lucky enough to have three very close friends who I’ve known since I was a child. We went to junior and senior school together, went out drinking together when we turned 18, have been on holiday together, been to each others weddings and now we’re adding another generation to our group. This weekend they came to visit and meet Lyra for the first time and it was awesome. We don’t get a chance to spend a lot of time all together anymore what with work and family commitments, one of them even lives in Belgium at the moment so…

I’m 3 days late in posting this, I feel like that may be a theme for these photos throughout the year. I’m not getting on my laptop as much to upload proper photos at the moment. We also decided to change the blanket this week as the one in this photo was handmade for Lyra by one of my closest friends.I thought it would be much nicer to have a sentimental blanket recorded in these photos. We’ve ventured out a couple more times this week and I’m gaining confidence with every trip. This week we’ve started dressing Lyra in proper…

Technically Lyra turned one week old on Thursday but we’ve had a lot of family visiting over the past couple of days so this is the first chance I’ve had to post this. I can’t believe it, one week has already passed. In one way it feels like only yesterday that I was giving birth to her but it also feels like she’s always been a part of our family. This first week has been a lot less hectic than I thought it would be. Lyra only wakes a couple of times through the night (I know this could change…

This man. Oh, this man has been amazing. He seems to have flourished in his new role as father and my heart feels so full from watching the two of them together. Not only is he dong an amazing job of looking after Lyra but he’s also looking after me as I recover from her birth. He’s done almost every nappy change as our mat is on the floor and I struggle to get up and down. He gets up during the night to keep me company as I feed her and then help get her back to sleep. He…
