August has flown by and I must admit that this little blog has been rather neglected. I don’t even have the excuse of it being the school holidays as both of my girls are too young for school anyway. We’ve been filling our days with adventures and making memories though and the unexpected break from blogging has been good for me. September always feels like a new beginning and I’m ready and energised to throw myself back into it. August ended up being a month of two halves. The rain that seemed to last forever at the beginning of the…

32/52 I haven’t shared a weekly portrait of my girls in weeks and look how much they have grown! Things have been a little manic around these parts which I plan to do a blog post on soon if only to get all of my thoughts and feelings out (no, I’m not pregnant!) but for now I’m just going to try and pick up from where I left off. My husband actually took the photo of Lyra this week, he was trying to get some pictures of me breastfeeding Athena as that chapter of motherhood is coming to an early…

For some reason I didn’t do one of these posts last month so things between the girls have changed quite a lot since May. Athena turned one and got more and more confident and suddenly the gap between them isn’t looking so big. Watching them whilst out and about remains my favourite thing to do in the world. Lyra rushes off as soon as she sees some wide open spaces but it usually clicks after a few seconds that her little sister can’t keep up so she comes running straight back to us, usually to tell Athena all about what…

28/52 Look at these little cuties! I love this time of year, it is just so colourful. Yesterday we headed to Somerset Lavender which is somewhere we visited for the first time last year when Athena was still a small baby. It was so nice to go back now that Athena is walking around and exploring with her big sister. Lyra was fascinated by the bees and spent most of the time that we were there watching them buzzing about. Athena on the other hand just wanted to walk and play with dirt. It looks like we definitely have another…

Sutton Lane Meadows is such a hidden gem especially at this time of year. We first went whilst I was pregnant with Athena last year and although I thought it was really pretty at the time (I think it was May) it was too early for most of the wildflowers. We then went again on Mother’s Day when we had a picnic there which was lovely but obviously we were much too early for the long grass and wild flowers and so we went again last week and it was perfect! Each time we’ve been I think we’ve seen a…

26/52 27/52 Looking at these photos, I can’t quite believe where my little babies have gone?! We are well and truly past those baby days in this household now, apart from Athena still not sleeping through the night, and we are thrown into the world of toddlers and children. Life is go, go, go but we wouldn’t have it any other way. I love the top photo of Athena that was taken on a picnic and it really shows, not only how much she’s grown, but also her cheeky personality. Lyra is constantly in her own little world at the…

24/52 25/52 I’m doing as well as I hoped at keeping up with these weekly portraits of the girls 9hence another double post) but that being said I love all four of these photos. The top two were from my birthday weekend on Portland and I think that they both do a good job of summing up the girls’ personalities at the moment. Lyra is constantly exploring and as she gets older she’s getting even more adventurous. And Athena has turned into a little whirlwind overnight! She is constantly on the go and usually shrieking at the same time. Life…

We’ve been doing lots of ‘wild’ things during our days recently but since Matt works during the week he’s had to miss out on most of them. Obviously he can join in at the weekend but we thought it might be nice to push the girls bedtime back a little one evening and make the most of the extra hours of sunlight. So after dinner one day we headed out on a mini beast hunt. Lyra loves hunting for bugs so she was in her element and since she was walking much slower than usual in order to find them…
