Weekend Adventuring | Lacock

I am so late in posting this, so late in fact that it is the weekend again tomorrow. Oops! I blame the bank holiday Monday messing with my already addled (thanks to pregnancy) brain and making me forget what day it is. Last weekend was assigned baby prep weekend as we had done pretty much nothing to get ready for baby number two. We managed to pack the hospital bags, wash baby stuff and our freezer is now stuffed full of lovely home made easy meals. So I can finally relax a little now and just wait for this little one to arrive which could be whenever really, I’m not due for another couple of weeks yet and I’m pretty sure that it will be late, so I could have a lot of waiting ahead of me.

We couldn’t let the weekend pass us by without a little adventure though and we decided to head to Lacock. We had been fairly recently but it’s a good distance away that Lyra can nap on the way and therefore be in a good mood when we arrive and we thought that we’d have a little walk around the village for a change anyway. Lyra was so funny walking around the village, she wanted to stop and sit on ever step and in front of every gate. I have no idea why but at least it made a pretty backdrop for photos! She also managed to find, what I’m pretty sure was, the only puddle in Lacock. Let’s just say it was a good job she was wearing her wellies!

After we’d walked around the village we thought we’d pop into the National Trust property Lacock Abbey but just to have a wander through the grounds. They currently have an outdoor sculpture show which has just started and Lyra loved spotting the sculptures as we walked around. She became quite taken with a wooden stag sculpture and spent a good ten minutes trying to feed it! It was so cute, she’d throw some grass at it, shout some nonsense and then make a chewing sound as if she was showing it what to do. We had to practically drag her away!

Before we knew it we had to leave as we needed to get to a supermarket before it closed to buy more items in preparation for the baby. I’m so glad that we managed to squeeze in a little adventure though and I cannot wait until baby is here and we can go out exploring as a family of four!

Oh what a great adventure! I haven't been to Lacock Abbey since I was tiny but it was always a fun stopping point on the long journey home!
