Freshly Picked Daisies and Hearts full to Bursting

I know that I’ve already said it but I feel like 2016 is going to be a big year for my little family. I go back on maternity leave in a few months, we have two family weddings to go to, an overseas holiday booked as well as a little pre Christmas getaway. And, of course, the biggest thing of all, the arrival of our second child to look forward to sometime in May/June. With all of these big events on the horizon I don’t want any of those small, everyday, extraordinary, ordinary moments to be ignored.

Lyra is changing by the day at the moment and is so much fun to be around. I don’t want to forget any of the cute and frankly sometimes hilarious things she does. And so this year I want to document more of our everyday moments on the blog as I know that ‘everyday’ life will have changed dramatically by the end of 2016. I’d like to think that I’ll always remember the cute faces she makes at me when she catches me watching her or the feeling of her snuggling up to me when she wants a nap. I like to think I’ll remember but I know that I probably won’t. And so I want to try and capture it in some meagre way using my words and photos.

Take this day for example. This day we took an ordinary little walk with my Mum. We wanted to get out of the house for a bit after spending a few days inside celebrating Christmas and hiding from the bad weather. For once I took my big camera and after a play in the park we took walked across the nearby field. My Mum started pointing daisies out to Lyra and before we knew it Lyra was a girl possessed. She ran from flower to flower, squatting in that very cute toddler way to pick them before bringing them back to me with the proudest expression on her face. My heart could have burst right there with happiness!

And so, when I look at these photos I feel inspired to really try and capture those everyday moments because really that’s all that motherhood is. Lots of small everyday moments connected up to become your life, your love. And I do not want to forget a thing.

Oh bless her, these are gorgeous photos and she looks so proud giving a daisy to her mama. It does sound like you have a really exciting year going on- so much to look forward to! x
