Weekend Adventuring: A Few Rainy Days in Wales

Last weekend something amazing happened, we got to have four days as a family! We headed up to Wales to stay with Matt’s Mum and step dad on the Saturday and even though it rained almost the entire time we were there we had so much fun. And of course our little toddler loved all of the extra attention from her Grandparents.

Saturday morning we were awake and out the door by 6.30 which was tough but so worth it as it meant we arrived at the house in time for a pancake breakfast. Then we headed out for lunch and a wander at Goodwick as Matt’s Mum had told us there was an octopus we could see at the OceanLab there. After a quick dash through the rain and into the building we had lunch and then eagerly went to see some fish. And you know what we discovered? There was no octopus! Apparently it had recently managed to get out of its tank and so they had released it. We still enjoyed ourselves though and had a very soggy walk along the beach afterwards. I promise you that we did enjoy ourselves despite what Lyra’s face may be suggesting in the photos below.

Sunday, the rain continued but, once again, we refused to let it spoil our fun. We grabbed all of our wet weather gear and drove to Scolton Manor to explore. Scolton Manor has become one of those places that we nearly always visit when we’re in the area as it has walks, a play area, house and cafe. So always lots to do. This time though the car park was only home to a couple of cars and we were the only people in the cafe for lunch. We still enjoyed ourselves though and let’s be honest I could just stare at Lyra in her little frog puddle suit all day anyway!

On the Monday we headed to Folly Farm but I’ll save that for another post as there was so much there and I’ve already included so many photos in this post. I’m so sad that our weekend is over and I now have a month wait until our next day off together. It was just so, so good to get out of our usual routine and get a chance to adventure. It’s been too long.

I know right?! Although it was a very small tank so I'm guessing the octopus was pretty small too. Thanks, I can't get enough of Lyra in her little frog suit x
