Whilst we were down in Dorset this past weekend we found ourselves in a park with a friend and his 2 year old. We haven’t been to any parks in a while as Lyra has been too young to really enjoy anything but since she is now sitting on her own we though we’d try the swings. I’ve got to say it ended up being one of my favourite ‘firsts’ of Lyra’s so far! She approached the experience in the same way she does everything, a serious little expression like the one above. She always has a good look around like she’s trying to work out what’s happening and then she relaxes and enjoys herself. And boy did she enjoy herself. We had big smiles and giggles, it brought me so much joy to watch her.
To add to the overall cuteness of the experience we had the beautiful autumnal backdrop, the rosy cheeks and Lyra’s little hat. Part of me is a little annoyed that her t shirt is bunched up and one of her socks is hanging off whilst the other is pulled up stupidly high but that’s how it was. I don’t want to spend all of my time staging the perfect photos, I want to be enjoying the moment, but I would be lying if I didn’t admit that it bothered me slightly. But it’s ok, the gorgeous fallen leaves and colours of the autumn day more than make up for it. I’m glad we managed to squeeze in a little park trip before the rain started and since we actually have a small park near our house I’m hoping for some more dry days in the near future to take Lyra on the swings again.
Whilst we were in the park I also managed to get a couple of nice photos of Matt and Lyra together. Although Lyra has started throwing her hands up when I’m taking a picture of her with someone else. It’s like she’s unwilling to share the spotlight! Haha.
Just looking back at theses photos makes me feel so grateful for my little life and family. I will never tire of watching Lyra experience something new and I love that Matt got to be there as well. I will certainly be using these pictures to cheer myself up this week when Lyra has been crying all night and I’m exhausted. I’ll leave you with a couple of photos of Lyra on this weird little spinning thing that was in the park. You can tell I don’t go in parks much, I have no idea what any of the stuff is!
